Kalen Powers Can Shoot The Three

Kalen Powers can shoot a basketball, and because of that, some Division I programs are now looking at the Highland C.C. sophomore.
Powers, a 6-4, 180 pound swingman, is a proficient catch and shoot three point specialist, but he also showed that he can get past defenders off the dribble as the Scotties split a pair of games at the Jayhawk Shootout.

According to Highland Head Coach Pat Surmeier, Albany and Winthrop were two programs who expressed an interest in Powers after seeing him at the Shootout.
In two Shootout games, Powers averaged 15 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
As a freshman last year at the Kansas junior college, he averaged 4.7 points and 2.1 rebounds, so he has become a more significant cog in the Scotties' attack this season.
JUCO Junction will keep you posted on Powers' situation and whether or not more Division I schools decide to get involved the winter, so stay tuned!
