Kaigler resting after long club season

Kelly Kaigler, the explosive 6-foot-3 combo guard from San Jose's (Calif.) Oak Grove High School was glad once the club basketball season ended. Kaigler's play was very solid, as he helped lead the West Valley Basketball Club to a 22-7 record over the spring and summer.
Kaigler was selected for the all-star games at both the Double Pump and Full Court Press camps despite tendonitis in his knee, which limited him to 60 percent of his capability. "The tendonitis affected my running, jumping and explosiveness," said Kaigler.

A guard in the mold of former McClymond's star Antonio Kellogg, Kaigler is very athletic and explosive and he uses his tenacity on both ends of the court to make plays. While he is not a knock down shooter, Kaigler is a money player who simply gets the job done. Despite not being at full strength, his play pleased his coach, Bob Bramlett, founder of West Valley Basketball Club.
"I am very proud of [Kelly] and how he played because he played hard in-spite of playing on a tender knee," said Bramlett. "His tendonitis was killing him, and he did not really get it going until he got to LA and played in the Best of Summer."
Despite the injury, Kaigler showed flashes. He played more of a point guard than the athletic shooting guard he normally plays. As such, he showed the ability to run a team, control tempo and make plays using his passing ability.
Kaigler has an impressive list of Division I college suitors that includes Utah, Kansas State, Loyola of Chicago, American, Portland State, San Jose State and Montana, who has offered. More recently, he has also started hearing from Fresno State and Washington State.
"The schools recruiting me have seen me play," said Kaigler. "But they want to see me a little bit in the fall."
Kaigler said he will rest the remainder of August before he begins to start working out for the upcoming high school season.
"I can't wait to get back on on the court," continued Kaigler. "Although I have been resting, I have been working on my shooting form and my ball handling and just being patient."
