Kadima makes early decision

The commitments kept on flowing on Tuesday when junior Chim Kadima decided to pull the trigger early and make his commitment to Iowa State. The 6-foot-3 guard from Milwaukee made an unofficial visit to the Big XII program, saw what he liked and decided that Ames was the spot for him.
Coming into the unofficial visit Kadima already had Iowa State on the top of his list, and that did not change on the visit according to his AAU coach Ritchie Davis.

“He really enjoyed unofficial visit this weekend, and at 6:30 this morning Coach MacDermott was in the doorway waiting for him at his open gym,” said Davis.
Davis also added, “He’s been really impressed with how Coach MacDermott and his staff. They have put the time in recruiting him, and right from the beginning and built a relationship with Chim and his family. He also knows a lot of the people there, two of coaches and another member of the staff are from the Milwaukee metro area. Also two other players on the team are from Wisconsin who Chim knows. ISU has just been good with Chim from beginning.”
Along with Iowa State, Kadima also had offers from Loyola-Chicago, Wisconsin-Green Bay, and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The other high-major schools showing him interest were Marquette, Iowa, Boston College, and Vanderbilt.
For Kadima it was the coaching staff and the familiarity he had with them that made the ultimate difference. Also he was very impressed with the amount of attention they showed him from the very beginning.
When asked if being the first high-major school to offer had an effect on Kadima, Davis said, “I think it had a big effect on him. He took some time to evaluate other schools during the process. He enjoyed the people at Marquette, Boston College, Iowa, and Vanderbilt, but Iowa State put a lot of time in with him. After a while Chim certainly saw that as loyalty, so did his family.”
He continued, “Coach MacDermott didn’t just talk basketball, and that went over with him really well, and also with his family. We are really excited for Chim and his decision.”
Kadima is the second commitment for the Cyclones in the 2010 class. He joins Jordan Dykstra who committed in November of 2006.
