K-State adds power forward

Due to some spring cleaning inside of the program, Kansas State found themselves in need of some late signing period help. Because of that, the recruitment of power forward Isaiah Maurice didn't last very long.

So far this spring, Bruce Weber and his staff have kicked sophomore Marcus Foster and freshmen Tre and Malek Harris off the team. On top of that, 2015 commitment Eric Cobb has decommitted and sophomore guards Nigel Johnson and Jevon Thomas have both left the program.
After scoring a pair of three-star guards -- Kamau Stokes and Corlbe Ervin -- earlier in the spring signing period, the Wildcats still needed some interior help. Enter Maurice.
A 6-foot-8, 215 pound senior at Durham (N.C.) Bull City Prep, Maurice is a fine run and jump athlete who can board and hit the mid range jumper. The interest from Kansas State was something that got him excited.
"I just had a ton of mid-major schools recruiting me, and for a big-time school like Kansas State to call is just everything I work hard for," Maurice told
GoPowercat.com's Brett Regan on Friday as he prepared to start his visit. "I felt I sigh of relief. I felt I deserved it, and I think I'm good enough to play on that level. It was a great feeling."
Once Maurice arrived on campus that excitement turned to completely sold as sources confirmed to Rivals.com on Sunday that Maurice had made a verbal commitment.
While Maurice is a good athlete and boards it well, he does need to get stronger and needs some polish with his low post footwork. He plays with good energy and has the tools to turn into a contributor after he's had some time to adjust to the level of play in the Big 12.
In addition to Maurice and the previously mentioned Stokes and Ervin who all committed late, the Wildcats signed three-star prospects Barry Brown and Dante Williams plus Rivals150 power forward Dean Wade in the early signing period.
