Justin Gray Will Be Big Part Of Oak Hill Academy
The hardest challenge for any basketball program is to repeat a season without a loss. Well, head coach Steve Smith of Oak Hill Academy is busy shaping his next attempt at that hard task.
Smith knows that for Oak Hill to go undefeated this upcoming season he will need sufficient offensive help from Justin Gray, a 6-2 combo guard. Gray was one of the main reasons last year why Oak Hill went the entire season without a loss. He will be needed even more so this season.
"Justin really won himself minutes last year with his play," Smith said. "He outworked people for his minutes. And he played well for us last season. This year he is going to be more of a focal point for us."
And Gray will have to handle the rock more too with point guard Billy Edelin on his way to Syracuse University to play for Jim Boeheim's program. "Justin did a very good job when we needed him to play point guard," Smith said. "He handled the pressure well and he sees the open man too."
And his recruiting has changed too. "Because of his great tournament at Boo Williams," Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said. "His recruiting has really picked up."
Gray now has a list of Indiana, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Charlotte, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Clemson. He is still open.
"He will probably make a decision in the Fall," Smith said.
Gray averaged 10 points a game last year for a very balanced Oak Hill team. "He is one of our better offensive players," Smith said. "He might have been our best passer with Billy. He was second on our team with assists. Billy was first. He averaged over five assists a game."
