Junior Commits To Albany

Jon Iati, a 5-9, 150 pound junior point guard from York Catholic in York, PA, has verbally committed to Albany. He choose Albany over Rider, Florida International and Boston University.
Iati said that he was really comfortable with Coach Will Brown (who took over at the America East school this March). "He said I probably would get playing time as a freshman," Iati said.

He averaged 26 points this past season. Iati will stay busy this spring and summer as he plays with three different AAU squads: Sam Rines from Philadelphia, NY Elite and a York team coached by York Catholic Assistant Coach Joe Keesey. "I'm going to be at most of the tournaments," he said. "Believe I'm playing with Sam Rines at the Southern Invitational this weekend."
Iati has an 85 average in the classroom and took the SAT this past Saturday.
"I got advice from players who had previously been recruited. Deciding early was the best decision," he said. "Feels like there's a load off."
Iati received national attention last year when Sports Illustrated reported on his scoring prowess in the May 28, 2001 issue.
