Julian Sensley Headed to Iona

Julian Sensley, one of the top recruits from the class of 2001 who signed with Cal in the fall 2000, has landed at a different college. He spent the first semester at a junior college in California after the NCAA denied his appeal of their partial eligiblity decision.
Instead, he's headed to Iona, in the MAAC, and will rejoin freshman point guard Solomon Brown. Brown and Sensley attended St. Thomas More in Connecticut the previous two years. (Brown was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Monday.)

While he had signed a National Letter of Intent with California (after verbally committing a full year earlier) that letter is no longer in force. He was not able to enroll for this season since that PAC-10 school doesn't admit partial qualifiers
Sensley, a 6-9, 230-pound power forward from Kailua, Hawaii, achieved the necessary high school GPA, but fell just short of attaining the required SAT score.
He enrolled at Diablo Valley College as a part-time student and practiced with the DVC team. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, "....until this week, he had suggested that he would enroll at Cal during the Christmas break if he attained the required SAT score."
At this point, Sensley has not attained a qualifying score on the SAT. He took the test again, in an untimed session, on Saturday, November 29th. Results should be available within the week.
Sensley could join the Gaels when the second semester starts if he achieves the required SAT score, based on his GPA from St. Thomas More. Since he was enrolled at Diablo Valley as a part time student, he will not be subject to the new rule that requires mid-year transfers from a two-year college to wait until the next fall to be eligible.
