JUCOs Taking Trip To West

Fresno State will host a pair of players from South Plains J.C. in Levelland, Tex., this upcoming weekend.
Ray Lopes' Bulldog program will entertain 6-7 forward Jonathan Woods and 6-5 swingman Renaldo Major, who are both natives of the Chicagoland area in Illinois.

JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com has confirmed this information with South Plains Head Coach Steve Green.
Both players will start their official visits on Friday, May 3 and return to Texas on Sunday, May 5.
Major has been offered a scholarship by Fresno State. He has previously visited Western Illinois (Apr. 12-14) and Cal State Northridge (Apr. 19-21) this spring, and also had schools such as Boise State and SW Missouri State come in to see him in recent weeks.
As for Woods, his only trips this spring have been to Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Apr. 19-21) and San Francisco. He was slated to visit Pacific this spring, but the Tigers signed another big man from a California JUCO and backed out on Woods at the 11th hour.
Like Major, both SW Missouri State and Boise State came in late to look at Woods. Fresno State will have Woods on campus this weekend, but it's unclear at this time if there is a scholarship offer for him on the table.
"I am assuming that anytime you bring somebody out for a visit that they are going to offer," Green said.
Woods averaged 13.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest this past season. He shot 57 percent from the field and 65 percent from the foul line.
Woods does most of his damage inside of 10 feet. He shot just 23 percent from beyond the arc, but does have the ability to face up from short to midrange. He is very active on both ends of the glass.
Major, who played exceptionally when we saw him in the Region V quarters in Lubbock this past March, averaged 15.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He shot 53 percent from the floor, 38 percent from beyond the arc and 73 percent from the charity stripe.
A very lanky slasher with a knack for scoring, Major will need to add some bulk to his frame to aid him at the Division I level.
Both Woods and Major aren't expected to graduate from South Plains until the summer.
We will keep you posted on both players until they reach decision, so keep it here for the latest.
