Jovial Johnson coming on strong
A grin rarely leaves Reginald Johnson's face. And neither does the look of confusion on players that have to line up with him.

How do you defend the 6-foot-7, 285-pound big man from Winston Salem (N.C.) Prep? How do you get around his box out? How do you put a body on him?
The same questions were asked about Glen "Big Baby" Davis. So, it's easy to understand why Johnson hears the comparison on a daily basis.
"Every time somebody sees me play, I hear that," Johnson said. "I can see it. He put in the work and I think I am to. I think it's a little fair (comparison)."
It is easy to understand why Johnson has heard the comparisons to the outbound LSU forward. Like Davis, Johnson has a jovial personality, nimble feet at the bottom of a big frame and soft hands that collect rebounds with great strength.
The three-star big man was one of the top surprises of the Boo Williams Invitational with his steady play and helped Ed Davis dominate the field and Ty Walker blocked at least six shots a contest. Johnson said he understands the sense of urgency this month on the grassroots circuit.
"It's a big thing for me, this month. Ed Davis is the captain of the team and he sets the tone so I'm trying to come in and help night in and night out and just get it done," Johnson said. "You know, I'm not worried about being ranked number one or number two or number 100 or number 200. I'm worried about getting into college and get a good education and good guidance."
Colleges have shown interest and the interest varies from the mid and high-majors. East Carolina, Virginia Commonwealth, Fairfield and UNC Wilmington are all heavily involved with Florida, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Virginia are jumping into the picture.
While he isn't in a rush to decide anything on his decision, Johnson said he has noticed who has shown the most interest to date.
"The most that stands out is VCU. They came on first and been with me ever since. Anthony Grant has been by my side since day one," Johnson said. "But I'm not going to overlook other schools are coming into the picture right now. I'm not overlooking anyone."
Odds are, people won't overlook him either. It's hard not to.
