Josh Tabb Commits To SIU

After talking it over with family and friends, Josh Tabb has decided to put an end to his recruitment. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound shooting guard from Century High School in Ullin, IL., has given a verbal commitment to Southern Illinois. Tabb was ready to announce his decision on Sunday, but decided to hold off to make sure he was certain about his decision.
“Yes, Josh has committed to Southern Illinois,” Century High School Head Coach Andy Palmer said. “He had an in school visit with the coaching staff several weeks ago and absolutely loved everything about the visit. He came back from Houston this weekend and was ready to pull the trigger. Josh called the coaches at Southern Illinois and told them he was ready to commit, but they asked that he sleep on it.

“He called them the next day and gave his commitment,” he added. “It’s a situation where Josh really liked everything about Southern Illinois, but he also wanted to focus on his academics and things like that. Now that a decision has been made, he can concentrate on school and not deal with as many outside distractions.”
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard missed the first 10 games of the year due to an injury he suffered to his wrist, but that didn’t stop him from being one of the most productive players in the state of Illinois.
“Josh averaged 19-points a game for us this year, but he missed the first 10 games of the year because of a wrist injury,” Coach Palmer said. “He was really a productive player for us. He can play the point guard or shooting guard position and we use him on the perimeter and down low.
“Josh runs the floor extremely well,” he added. “He has the ability to score in a variety of ways. He can put the ball on the floor and slash to the basket, or he can hit from the outside. He has a good handle with the basketball and gets other teammates involved with his ball passing abilities.”
