Josh Smith: Focus On IU First

Jumping jack forward Josh Smith, 6-foot-9, 210-pound athlete from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, will showcase his talents this winter with one of the country's best programs. Oak Hill coach Steve Smith consistently delivers a star-filled roster and manages to convince them to play like teammates who have been with each for several years.
"Oak Hill goes everywhere," Smith said. "So I will have a chance to play against the best teams all year."

Smith, who has given a commitment to the Indiana basketball program, still has yet to take his SAT or ACT. "I am taking them in October," he stated.
Smith feels he will focus on his season and academics first. "That's all I want to do right now," he said. "I am thinking about college first too. It's in the back of my mind the NBA thing. If I get a good feeling about it I will sit down with my family and discuss it. But right now I am thinking about college."
Josh recently took a trip to Indiana. "It was great," he said. "I had a chance to play with some of the guys. Bracey Wright, George Leach, and A.J. Moye were very impressive. I was glad I had a chance to see the campus and talk to the guys."
Smith said he also was happy to speak to Indiana head coach Mike Davis again. "We clicked again," Smith said. "I like him a lot. I feel comfortable when I talk to him. He's a great coach and great person."
