SPRINGFIELD, MASS. -- Washington is already getting the nation's top player Michael Porter Jr. for the 2017-2018 season. Now, it's looking like they may get his talented brother Jontay Porter a year earlier than expected.

At the Hoophall Classic, the 6-foot-9 power forward at Seattle (Wash.) Nathan Hale who is currently a member of the class of 2018 confirmed that he is looking at enrolling at Washington a year early with the high school class of 2017.

"We've got to discuss the pros and cons of it but it's definitely something that's an option," said Porter. "I'm good academically, I just have to see if it is something that I want to do."

The Huskies would certainly be receptive to an early arrival. Porter is a big and strong four man who has a level of skill and ability to soften defenses with jump shooting that their roster currently lacks.

"One, I could get in early with the college coaches and get my body right," said Porter. "I could get my game to improve and try to get ready for the next level after that."

This season, Porter has looked much quicker and showed off more bouncy athleticism and he says that it's a matter of being fully healthy.

"I've been going to rehab for my knees, that's always been an issue with my knees hurting," said Porter. "They feel good so I feel like I can jump higher and be more explosive."

Porter's father Michael Sr. is an assistant coach at Washington and not surprisingly the possibility of playing with his older brother -- who is a likely one-and-done player -- for a year looks like it could help make an early enrollment happen.

"I feel like I play better when Michael is on the court," said Porter. "We kind of feed off of each other so that's another pro of going early."
