Mississippi State, Oklahoma and Xavier gave chase, but Marquette was the school to beat all along for Jones, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound small forward from Decatur (Ga.) Greenforest Christian Academy.
"I've been leaning heavily towards Marquette," said Jones. "I just wanted to make sure it was the right place, and then I realized it was the place I wanted to go."
A big wing with versatility Jones is a similar player to Marquette standout Wesley Mathews. Jones is ready to step into those shoes.
"I think I can come in as a freshman and make a big impact," he said. "The system is a good fit for me, and I get along really well with the coaches and players."
Jones, the No. 64 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, joins Aaron Bowen and Monterale Clark in the 2010 Marquette recruiting class.
