Johnson Trims List to Four

Marcus Johnson, the No. 26 player in the class of 26, has trimmed his list down to four schools. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound small forward from Westchester High School in Las Angeles favors two Big East schools, a Pac-10 school, and one from Conference USA.
“My top four schools are Syracuse, Uconn, Arizona, and Louisville,” said Johnson. “Syracuse is my favorite, slightly ahead of Arizona and Louisville.”

Johnson, who will take the SAT in July, definitely plans on visiting Connecticut and Louisville. He is already familiar with Syracuse and Arizona.
Beginning with his favorite school, here are Johnson’s comments on his top four.
“Syracuse was my dream school as a kid growing up. I took an unofficial visit there and really enjoyed it. It is in a small town with a close knit basketball family. I have really built a good relationship with Coach Boeheim and Assistant Coach Hopkins.”
“My mom wants me to stay close to home, and Arizona is the closest school on my list. They are in the Pac-10, and I grew up watching that league. Coach Olsen is a great coach.”
“Coach Pitino at Louisville is a great coach, and my mom really likes him a lot. It is a great school, and they really prepare you for the next level.”
“I had a chance to meet with the Connecticut coaches and liked them a lot. It’s a great program and could prepare me to get to the next level. Also, a friend of mine Marcus Williams plays on the team.”
Johnson has no idea when he will commit, but he does know what parts of his game he is working to improve.
“I am working mainly on my ball handling, my jump shot, and my strength,” he said. “I have been in the weight room a lot this summer.”
