Johnson Sparkles At Slam

LEWES, Del. -- Jerome "Stretch" Johnson scored 18 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots to lift Bullis H.S. of Potomac, Md., to a 43-41 victory over Spingarn H.S. of Washington D.C. on Sunday at the Slam Dunk to the Beach.
Johnson, a 6-8 junior power forward being eyeballed by a number of mid and high major programs, scored on back to back possessions in the fourth quarter to break a 35-35 deadlock and give the Bulldogs a 39-35 lead with 2:30 to play. Guard Tanard Jackson followed with a difficult six footer at the 1:05 mark to push the lead to six.

Spingarn's Babacar Thiam, a 6-7 unsigned senior small forward via Africa, kept things interesting by hitting a pair of three pointers in the final minute, sandwiched around a pair of Bullis free throws.
However, Thiam missed a jumper from the corner in the game's closing moments as Bullis held on for the win.
