Johnson Hounds The Boards

Torre Johnson, an athletic 6-5, 195 pound forward from Juneau H.S. in Milwaukee, Wis., was one of the better rebounders on hand at this week's Nike Peach Jam Tournament.
In fact, Johnson averaged 14.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest at the Peach, and the latter figure represents his average for four games (one of the boxscores had Torre listed for zero boards in one game, HIGHLY unlikely).

Johnson is your classic live bodied tweener who is essentially an active four man now but will likely be a three man down the road in college. He explodes to the ball on both sides of the glass, and will occasionally knock down short baseline jumpers to add to a steady diet of putbacks. He's also very mobile and gets up and down the floor rapidly.
Johnson's recruitment varies quite a bit in terms of level, but the only school prior to the Peach Jam to put an offer on his table was Wisconsin-Milwaukee (where he's visited unofficially). Others expressing interest include Florida State, Nebraska, Texas Tech, UNC-Wilmington, South Alabama, Ball State, Evansville, Illinois State and Wisconsin Green Bay.
This past season at Juneau H.S., Johnson averaged 22 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks per contest. He said he has a 2.2 GPA and took the ACT in June for the first time.
After the Peach Jam, Johnson will wrap up his summer at the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas with the Wisconsin Running Rebels.
