Johnson Getting Big Time Looks

Marquis Johnson, the No. 28 player in the Rivals50 for the class of 2006, is being recruited by high majors across the country. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound shooting guard from Snider High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana spoke to RivalsHoops.com about the four schools that have watched him play this year.
“The schools recruiting me the hardest right now are Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame, Michigan, UCLA, Arizona, Louisville, and Illinois,” said Johnson. “I grew up a North Carolina fan, and I have gotten a few letters from them. I am hoping they get more involved. Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame, and Illinois have watched me play this year.”

Johnson, who is averaging 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists per game, commented on the four schools that have watched him play this season.
On Indiana: “I like the fact that it’s close to home. James Hardy and I grew up together as close friends, and he’s pushing me to go to IU.”
On Purdue: “It is an Indiana school and it’s close to home.”
On Notre Dame: “I like the coaching staff. I like their style of play, and they have a really nice campus.”
On Illinois: “The head coach came to my school. He seemed pretty cool.”
As a guard with size, Johnson can cause some problems for the opposition.
“I handle the ball well for my size,” he said. “I have good instinct for the game. My jumper is pretty consistent.”
“I need to get more physical. I also need to look up more and have better court vision.”
Johnson has a 3.3 GPA.
