Johnson brothers sign

Once a Texas Tech commitment, three-star prospect Kendrick Johnson has now signed a letter-of-intent to play in SEC. The 6-foot-10, 225-pound center from Morton (Texas) High School was not the only person in his family to sign a letter-of-intent this week. His brother Calvin Johnson also signed to play on the west coast.
"I signed with Georgia yesterdy,” Kendrick Johnson told Rivals.com on Tuesday. “They recently offered, and I just felt it was the best situation for me."

Although Georgia’s recruitment of Johnson is a rather recent development, Johnson has a significant level of familiarity with the Bulldogs’ program.
"I’ve been to Georgia a couple times with my AAU team and really liked the campus,” he said. “I have gotten to know the coaching staff and like them a lot. I think I will fit in well with their style of play. I’m very excited to be going to Georgia."
Johnson, who chose Georgia over Virginia Tech, is a load on the blocks. He is a strong rebounder and can score with a nifty jump hook. He is aware, however, that he will need to diversify his game and extend his range for SEC competition.
"In high school points come easier in the paint than they will in college,” he said. “I need to extend my range and develope a consistent jumper. I’ve been working hard to get ready for college. I also need to work on my ball handling. I’m going to try to improve my over all game to come in and help as a freshmen."
Johnson’s brother Calvin Johnson, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound combo guard, is headed to Santa Clara to play his college ball.
