The No. 73 ranked player in the class of 2005 Austin Johnson is preparing to play in the Nike All-American Camp in Indianapolis, Ind., this week. The four Big 12 schools that have offered the 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard from Amarillo, Texas will be watching him, but one Big 12 school that has yet to offer will give him the closest look.

“My list right now is Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Kansas, Baylor, Texas A&M, and USC,” said Johnson, who plays for Team Texas. “Everyone but Kansas has offered, but they have been calling, saying they still have interest and heard I played well in the Bronx. They are going to watch me hard in July.
Living close to Texas Tech, Johnson is very familiar with the campus of the Big 12 school that first offered him. He also just returned from an unofficial visit to Oklahoma, where he picked up his offer from the Sooners.
“It was a nice visit to Oklahoma,” he said. “I liked it down there. I really liked the practice facility, and the coaches were nice. We went around the campus, and I really liked it.
“I still want to visit Baylor and A&M. We will see what happens with Kansas. USC is kind of far away, but I might take a visit there.”
When asked if he is destined to play in the Big 12, Johnson said it is very likely that is the conference where he will end up.
“Probably, It is a good conference with great exposure, and it is mainly where my home is.”
