Johns Needs Some Exposure

Garfield Johns, a crafty 6'2'' 170 pound combo guard from Wings Academy in The Bronx, is an unheralded prospect who might be worth a closer look for some low to mid-level programs.
The southpaw possesses a fluid stroke from three and can hit under duress. He is capable of hitting threes in bunches. While he isn't explosively quick, Johns is a crafty slasher who finds ways to wriggle through for buckets. Garfield possesses good court awareness and vision. His ball-handling is adequate but needs to improve.

Johns competed with Will Negron's Willie Howie All-Stars this past summer, as well as The Riverside Church. He was also a regular at The Five Star Camp.
Johns has fielded preliminary interest from schools like LIU and Fairfield, but his recruitment really hasn't taken off yet. He still has some work to do to qualify, and still needs a qualifying SAT score, but is within striking distance, according to his new coach at Wings, Tony Bergeron. Bergeron was formerly the head coach at The MacDuffie School in Springfield, Massachusetts, and worked most recently for The Five Star Camp.
The biggest obstacle in Johns' recruitment at this point is probably a lack of exposure. Wings, the PSAL B New York City champion last year, is not yet on the roadmap for college coaches scouring NYC for talent.
