John Zito: Solid In Home Stretch

It seems every year, no matter what the roster makeup is, St. Thomas More always makes a bid to win the New England Prep School championship.
It is true that this year's group doesn't have some of the big names of the past for the Chancellors but St. Thomas More is made up of gritty, tough players who seem to find a hot hand every night.

This past weekend, St. Thomas More won its two games at the 2002 National Prep School Invitational. Rivalshoops.com was on hand for the first game. St. Thomas More was matched up against Denham Brown and the Grassroots Canada team.
Among the big efforts for St. Thomas More in its victory was the play of John Zito, a 6-5, 190 pound small forward who played last year at Windsor H.S. in Windsor, Connecticut.
Zito's first four baskets were three-pointers. He also did a nice job on guarding Denham Brown, who is headed to Connecticut next year. St. Thomas More used a swarming defense to prohibit Brown from moving around easily.
Zito finished the game with 19 points. He did a nice job defending and rebounding too. Zito has interest from New Hampshire but sources told us that William & Mary was now seriously looking at this versatile athlete.
Zito did have previous summer interest from William & Mary as well as Hartford, Colgate, Lehigh, Marist, Rider, Siena, Central Connecticut State, Mt. St. Mary's and SUNY-Binghamton.
We will have more reports on Zito and his teammates during the remaining part of the season.
