John Zito Continues To Impress

MONTVILLE, CONNECTICUT -- Rivalshoops.com has now seen St. Thomas More play four times already this season. And one view is developing for us here at rivalshoops.com -- there are some talented players in head coach Jere Quinn's program that can play division one basketball.
There were several middle division one programs on hand last night to watch St. Thomas More knock off a talented New Hampton Prep program. One such player who should receive more division one interest is John Zito, a 6-5, 190 pound small forward who played last year at Windsor H.S. in Windsor, Connecticut.

Zito has New Hampshire showing interest. But he put on a great show last night from the perimeter and in the clutch. Zito scored 21 points, including a couple of key free throws and two clutch three-pointers to help elevate his team to the hard fought victory.
Sometimes coaches want to place players with a position and if they can't, it discourages them from recruiting a player. But Zito really doesn't need a position. He is a good player no matter where you put him on the floor.
Zito had previous summer interest from William & Mary, Hartford, Colgate, Lehigh, Marist, Rider, Siena, Central Connecticut State, Mt. St. Mary's and SUNY-Binghamton.
Some coaches think Zito is a bit of a tweener on the basketball court. His size dictates that he will be a small forward on the college level, but on the high school level he is an effective inside player who has a knack for getting between people in the paint. But last night it was from the outside where Zito did most of his damage.
We will have more reports on Zito and his teammates during the remaining part of the season.
