John Winchester Update

John Winchester, a 6-3, 165 pound shooting/combo guard, has transferred from Bonner Academy in Raleigh, N.C., to Milford Academy in his home state of Connecticut. Winchester enrolled today.
There has been speculation that Winchester might change his commitment from Tennessee to another school. As of now, Winchester is unsure of what he will do. His AAU coach, Jim Salmon of T5T Playaz, told us today:

"I hope John will keep his word and remain committed to Tennessee. It is his decision. But I hope he stays committed to Tennessee since he has already given his word. I think with him being uncertain of his situation at Bonner this may have played a part in what he wanted to do as far as college."
Winchester will play with his friends Nick King and Eric Davis. "He will also be closer to home and be able to see his family more," Salmon said.
Winchester had a terrific visit to Tennessee, as John indicated to us last time we spoke. He had also considered West Virginia and Texas.
Winchester is a versatile guard with good athleticism who can bring the ball up the floor, but he is really a shooting guard thanks to his wing skills. He's a pretty good sniper from beyond the arc, and is not averse to hitting the glass on both ends of the floor. Plus he has a long, lanky frame which has yet to fill out.
As a fourth-year junior at Marist, Winchester averaged 20 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks per game.
