HEMPSTEAD, NEW JERSEY -- John Winchester, a 6-3, 165 pound shooting guard from Stamford, Conn., who attended Marist H.S. in Bayonne, N.J. the past few years, plans to attend Mt. Zion Christian Academy in Durham, N.C. in the fall.
Winchester, who has become a well known name on the travel circuit playing for Jimmy Salmon's T5T Playaz program, has a number of high major programs courting him entering his senior campaign.

Winchester told the Insiders Report that he is considering Michigan State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, DePaul, Tennessee, and Seton Hall. Winchester said he was not close to committing and was still open.
"I certainly could commit early in the process if I find the right school," Winchester said. "I am still just thinking about the schools on my list."
Winchester has improved quite a bit over the past six months and has a great deal of confidence in his game. Although he was not home for the first day of phone calls last Thursday, several of the above schools had contacted Marist H.S. this spring regarding Winchester.
Winchester is a versatile guard with good athleticism who can bring the ball up the floor, but he is really a shooting guard thanks to his wing skills. He's a pretty good sniper from beyond the arc, and is not averse to hitting the glass on both ends of the floor. Plus he has a long, lanky frame which has yet to fill out.
As a fourth-year junior at Marist, Winchester averaged 20 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks per game. He said he has a 3.3 GPA in the classroom.
Winchester kicked off a busy summer at the adidas ABCD Camp in New Jersey. He will also attend the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas with the T5T Playaz.
