John Kelly Making Big Strides

John Kelly, a developing 6-10, 240 pound junior center from DePaul H.S. in Wayne, N.J., has made big strides in the past year and has caught the eye of several high major programs.
A native of West Milford, N.J., Kelly told the Insiders Report/ that Penn State leads for his services. In fact, he said he has already made a pair of unofficial visits to Happy Valley in the past year.
In addition to the Nittany Lion program, Kelly said he is also interested in Pittsburgh, Providence, Seton Hall, Syracuse, Villanova, Boston University and Rider.
While Kelly's athleticism is modest, he has excellent touch around the basket and a good set of mitts. Perhaps the biggest issue right now with Kelly is his conditioning, as he tends to get winded in game if left in for very strong stretches.
That said, he has made great strides in the past year and has become a much more confident player on the offensive end.
This season, Kelly averaged 19 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks per game for the Spartans. He said he has a 3.0 GPA and will take the SAT for the first time later this month.
Kelly plans on attending the adidas ABCD Camp in July, and will once again tour the spring and summer basketball circuits with Sandy Pyonin's New Jersey Roadrunner program.
