John Finds New Home in Sun Belt

Duane John, a very athletic swingman from Toronto, has transferred from the Big 12's Missouri to New Mexico State in the Sun Belt Conference.
The 6-6, 190 pounder was dismissed from Missouri's basketball program the middle of last month. He had seen limited action in his first year of collegiate ball averaging just 3.5 minutes in 24 games.

Somewhat of an unknown from "up north," John opened coaches eyes at the 2000 adidas ABCD camp. He is an energetic inside/outside player who can excel if this new campus works out better for him, he works hard and displays the majority expected of him.
New Mexico State head basketball coach Lou Henson offered similar comments yesterday. ""If he comes in and works hard he will be a great addition to our ball club," Henson said. "He will have to sit a year but that will be good for him in order to learn our system."
He will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2003-04 season.
