Joakim Noah Headed To NJ Prep

Joakim Noah, a long 6-8, 200 pound junior power forward from Poly Prep H.S. in Brooklyn, will transfer to the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, N.J., for his senior year. Noah is the son of former French tennis star Yannick Noah.
Lawrenceville Head Coach Ronnie Kane informed Rivalshoops.com that Noah has been accepted to Lawrenceville and will enroll at the prestigious prep school in the fall.

"Joakim will be a wonderful addition to our community and basketball program," Kane said. "He comes from an excellent school in Poly Prep where they have strong academic reputation and a winning tradition in basketball."
Noah has played well this spring for the Long Island Panthers program. He runs the floor well, can face the basket as an outside shooter and plays with a high degree of intensity. He will need to continue to get stronger and become a better defensive presence in the low post.
"He has a big heart," Kane said. "He's a player that will bring size to our program and also a competitive spirit that will benefit us."
Kane will need players like Noah next year if he is to make a run at the New Jersey Prep crown. After winning the title in 2001, Lawrenceville has lost out the past two years to St. Benedict's and Blair, which have met in the last two prep title tilts.
Noah started out as a freshman at the United Nations School in New York before spending the past two years at Poly Prep.
Rivalshoops.com plans on catching Lawrenceville several times next fall and winter, as well as this spring and summer with the Panthers. We'll keep you on top of Noah's situation, so stay tuned.
