Jerry Smith, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound point guard from East High School in Wauwatosa, Wis., is considered to be one of the truly elite players from the class of 2006. Smith, the No. 27 ranked player, is receiving interest from a large number of high major programs, and has already taken several unofficial visits. Smith is set to visit a Big 12 school during the month of October.

“Yes, I will be in Lawrence for Midnight Madness,” Jerry Smith said. “I really like KU a lot and I am looking forward to visiting the campus. Coach (Tim) Jankovich came to watch me practice in the gym last week. Kansas is definitely one of the top schools on my list, if not the top school.
“I have already taken unofficial visits to Wisconsin, Iowa and Marquette,” he added. “I haven’t really thought about what schools to officially visit next fall, but I do plan to take a number of visits when that time comes."
As it stands right now, the No. 4 ranked point guard in the class of 2006 is seriously interested in Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Marquette and Wisconsin.
Smith has received scholarship offers from Arizona, Iowa, Marquette and Wisconsin.
As a somphomore last year, Smith averaged 18 points, eight rebounds, and five assists per game.
