Curtis Jerrells, the No. 62 player in the Rivals75 for the class of 2005, has led his Del Valle High School team in Austin, Texas to a 25-3 record and No. 5 ranking in Texas’ next to largest classification. Several Big 12 schools are keeping close tabs on the play of the 6-foot-1, 170-pound point guard.

“Curtis is playing awesome,” said his high school coach Marvin Hall. “In the past two weeks he has had two triple doubles.”
“He is getting letters from everybody. Baylor is still highly involved. Nebraska has talked to me, and they want to come down soon. TCU has been in, and Texas has been by once.”
Jerrells, who will play for ATX this summer, is averaging 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals per game. His most impressive stat as a consummate point guard is his 46 percent shooting from behind the arc. He has hit 40 out of 87 threes this season.
Coach Hall had even more praise for his team leader, including a favorable comparison to 2005 Texas point guard commitment A.J. Abrams.
“What makes Curtis so special is his composure. Nothing phases him. Whether he scores four or 40 points, it doesn’t matter. He just wants to involve his teammates.”
“I would give Curtis a slight edge over A.J. A.J. is an awesome player, but I think Curtis’ size will make a difference on the next level. Curtis is stronger and will probably be able to handle the next level better.”
