Jenkins touring SEC campuses

After an impressive month of play in July, 2009 four-star prospect John Jenkins has a number of high-major programs recruiting him. The 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard from Gallatin (Tenn.) Station Camp High School just returned from an unofficial visit to Kentucky and is slated to visit three other SEC schools this fall.
"It was a great trip," said Jenkins about his time on the Kentucky campus. "Everything there was perfect. The facilities are brand new. I got to play with the team and the guys were really nice."

Jenkins also has plans to visit Mississippi State September 22, Alabama on October 20 and Tennessee on October 27.
All four of these SEC schools are scheduled for in-school visits, and some schools outside the SEC are also getting involved.
"USC and Xavier are calling as well and saying they are coming in this fall," said Station Camp head coach Seth Massey. "Kentucky really likes John and compare him to Josh Carter at Texas A&M, but they think that John can develop more of a dribble game. Coach Gillispie just wants to watch him a little more before offering. The assistants at Mississippi State, Alabama and Tennessee love him and said an offer from the head coach will likely happen on the unofficial visits."
John Jenkins scouting report:
A prototypical high-major shooting guard, Jenkins shoots the ball with the best of them. He also compliments his deep shooting ability with a deceptive shot fake and strong two dribble game. Not the quickest player, Jenkins does use his length and intelligence to defend and rebound. Improving his strength and improving his ball handling are key areas where Jenkins can expand his game.
