Jenkins to the SEC

Four-star 2009 prospect John Jenkins had the attention of most of the schools in the SEC. But one SEC school had everything the 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard from Gallatin (Tenn.) Station Camp High School was looking for.
With Tennessee second, Kentucky third and the SEC schools that offered after them, nearby Vanderbilt has secured a commitment from the sharp shooting Jenkins.

"Vanderbilt is a perfect situation for me," said Jenkins. "They offer a great education, playing time and it is close to home."
Jenkins has been warming up to Vanderbilt recently after visiting the campus three time and spending time in conversation with current Vanderbilt star Shan Foster, whom Jenkins is likely to replace as Vanderbilt's next standout shooter.
"I was convinced I wanted to go to Vanderbilt after I watched their game with Lipscomb this weekend and met with the academic people on campus," Jenkins added.
Averaging right at 30 points per game this season, Jenkins is the No. 95 ranked prospect in the class of 2009.
John Jenkins scouting report:
A prototypical high-major shooting guard, Jenkins shoots the ball with the best of them. He also compliments his deep shooting ability with a deceptive shot fake and strong two dribble game. Not the quickest player, Jenkins does use his length and intelligence to defend and rebound. Improving his strength and improving his ball handling are key areas where Jenkins can expand his game.
