Jefferson: a Top West Coast Prospect

One of the more impressive 2005 prospects at the Boo Williams Invitational Tournament was Davon Jefferson of the California Elite. The 6-foot-7, 185-pound small forward plays at Lynwood (Calif.) High School but may soon play for a Pac 10 school.
“The schools recruiting me are Washington, Arizona, USC, Oregon, and Oregon State, basically all the Pac 10 and Louisville as well,” said Jefferson, who has offers from Washington and USC.

Jefferson, the No. 79 ranked player in the class of 2005, has two favorites in Washington and Arizona. It is the up tempo style of play that has both schools at the top of his list.
“Washington lets you play your game,” he said. “They get up the court and run. Arizona is the same way.”
Jefferson is a slasher with great body control. He had more than one acrobatic dunk in traffic during the tournament, and he has great lift on his interior and mid-range shots.
He does need to get stronger and improve his outside jumper. More intensity on defense would increase his stock as well.
