Jasper is a high major player

Derrick Jasper, the 6-foot-5, 200-pound point guard from Paso Robles (CA) High School has established himself as one of the truly elite players in the class of 2006. The five-star prospect conducted in school visits with a number of high major programs throughout the last couple of months, and is already looking forward to taking some official visits in the fall.
"Connecticut, USC, California, Gonzaga and Washington came to visit me at my school," said Jasper. "I would like to take some official visits in the fall, but I do not know if I will need to take all five official visits.

"Connecticut and Washington are two schools that I definitely plan to visit in the fall," he added. "As far as my other visits go, I really have no idea what schools I will visit. If I am not ready to make a decision after my visits to Connecticut and Washington, I will take some other visits."
Aside from the aforementioned programs, Jasper, the No. 25 ranked player in the class of 2006, indicated that he is receiving interest from Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Kansas and UCLA.
Until the time comes for Jasper to start taking some official visits in the fall, he will focus all of his attention towards having a productive spring and summer.
"Things have really been going good for me this month," said Jasper. "I have played my best basketball during that stretch. I have no idea what event I will be attending next with EBO/EA Sports, but I do know that I will be in San Diego for the USA Developmental Festival.
"I believe my AAU team will be in Portland for an event, but I do not have a date for that event," he added.
