Jasper: 2006 Gem

Coach Larson at Paso Robles (CA) High School has a gem in 2006 point guard prospect Derrick Jasper. The 6-foot-5, 180 pound Jasper has the tools to attract the attention of a host of high majors.
According to Coach Larson, USC, Texas Tech, Stanford, Michigan, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Utah, and Arizona are all showing interest in Jasper, who is averaging 17 points, 5 assists, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game.

“He has good size, handles the ball well, and sees the court,” said Coach Larson. “He an excellent passer. Derrick is a good outside shooter but prefers to get to the rim. He gets to the lie a lot. He does need to work on shooting off the dribble.”
With his impressive size as a point guard, Jasper has the potential to be an outstanding defender.
“He’s playing pretty well on the defensive end, but I look for him to get a lot better,” said Coach Larson. “He has great instinct, blocks a lot of shots, and gets a lot of steals.”
