Jason Williams Update

He might be a little unorthodox, and it's hard to classify his game, but it's to argue with the end result -- Jason Williams knows how to put the ball through the hoop.
Williams, a lanky 6-4, 180 pound off guard/swingman from L.W. Higgins H.S. in Marrero, La., was among the top scorers at the recent Nike Memorial Day Classic, pumping in 21.7 points per game in three pool games for the Gulfport Stars.

Williams scores many of his baskets close to the rim, whether flying in on transition or slinking in from the weakside for cheapies. His perimeter shot is not the consistent force it needs to be at this stage, but Williams' high energy hustle is probably what best typifies his game.
Williams told the Insiders Report that he has seen early looks from Southern Mississippi, Louisiana Tech, Stephen F. Austin and Louisiana-Lafayette. Of course, his summer play will ultimately dictate what level that Williams gets recruited at in the fall.
Toward that end, Williams is hoping to impress coaches and scout at the Great American Shootout in Texas and AAU Nationals in Florida, assuming of course his team qualifies for the latter event. He will play with both the New Orleans Hurricanes and Gulfport Stars this summer.
As a junior at Higgins H.S., Williams averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals per game. He said he has a 2.3 GPA but fell short of attaining a qualifying ACT score on his first attempt on the test.
