Jason Chappell Gaining Confidence

SMITHFIELD, RHODE ISLAND -- He is a player that rarely receives recognition for his play at Worcester Academy by the media. But his coach realizes the value of Jason Chappell, a 6-9, 230-pound forward who is headed to Wisconsin next Fall.
"He is really coming along," Cassara said. "He works hard all the time. Once he strengthens his body he will be a very good player in the Big Ten."

Chappell provided a big lift for Worcester on Saturday against Our Savior New American. He scored seven points in the first half to help Worcester forge a halftime lead -- a lead they never gave up. Chappell also pulled down six rebounds against the big frontline of Our Savior -- a team that features forwards standing at 6-9, 6-8, and 6-6. All of these forwards for Our Savior are likely to be high division one prospects. So the encouraging part of this effort is Chappell's production was done against very tough competition.
"His touch around the basket has improved over the past couple of months," Cassara said. "He is more confident in taking his shot."
Chappell had been impressive to us the previous times we saw him. But he not only achieves on the court but he is quite skilled in the classroom. He has a 28 on his ACT and a 3.75 GPA. We will have more reports on Chappell on this site as the season continues.
