Jason Carter A Top Offensive Performer

Jason Carter, an athletic 5-9 shooting guard from Barton County C.C. in Great Bend, Kan., was one of the top offensive performers at this past weekend's Jayhawk Shootout.
The lefty slinger from Gary, Ind., has the size of a point guard but the game and mentality of a two guard. What makes him difficult to defend is his eye-popping athleticism, which allows Carter to finish plays above and around the rim that other guards simply can't.

A streaky three point shooter, Carter hit five of seven three pointers in one game at the Shootout. In another contest, he converted on two of five. In a pair of blowout victories, he averaged 27.5 points per game.
According to Barton Head Coach Ryan Wolf, Cincinnati and Fresno State have each offered Carter scholarships this fall.
Carter first came to Barton during the 1999-2000 school year, and due to the presence of outstanding floor general Eric Bush, he red-shirted that year for the Cougars.
Last year, Carter played alongside the ball dominating Bush [now at UAB], averaging six points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He appeared in all 38 of Barton's games, starting 28 of them as the Cougars marched to a seventh place finish at the NJCAA Tournament last March.
It's likely that many other programs will take a look at Carter as the winter progresses, and we'll keep you posted as new information becomes available.
