New Orleans (La.) McDonogh 35 point guard DeJon Jarreau had a terrific July playing for Elfrid Payton Elite. Already considered tall by point guard standards, Jarreau looks to have sprouted up a couple more inches from 6-foot-4 to 6-foot-6, and he took his game to another level as well.
Schools such as Miami, Oklahoma, LSU, Creighton, UMass and Texas have made him a priority out of July. He's set up official visits with Miami on the weekend of September 19th and he'll make his way to Norman, Oklahoma on October 2nd. Mo<
The four-star point guard already took his first official visit, to Creighton, back in June.
"It was nice," Jarreau said. "They have really nice facilities there. It went well. They said if I went there I would be their guy."
Nearby LSU recently pulled the trigger on an offer to Jarreau.
"I'm still open to them even though they were later," he said. "They are going to have a good team this year and they had a good team last year. I feel like they are on the rise. They told me I could run the show and that I would be close enough to where my mom could come watch me."
Miami also came in a little late for Jarreau, but worked hard to secure his next official visit.
"I just like everything about Miami," Jarreau said. "They are in a good conference. Miami is a really good school and really nice."
Oklahoma has been there since the beginning for Jarreau, and their guard development intrigues him.
"They have been on me since last year," he said. "They have done well. They helped turn Buddy Hield into a really good guard. They have been sending me videos of them in the gym with their guards, and I think they could make me into a good player too."
Don't expect a decision from Jarreau until completes his visits.
"I'll probably commit sometime in the fall, like October or early November," Jarreau said.
For schools hoping to sign Jarreau, they better have an interest in his best friend Brison Gresham, who also plays for Elfrid Payton Elite.
"It has to happen," Jarreau said of playing with Gresham in college. "We really want that to happen. We have all the same schools on us. He's taking those visits with me and we went to Creighton together."
