Jarreau plans for big summer

One of the most upwardly mobile players in the class of 2016 is four-star point guard DeJon Jarreau. The junior just made a big move in the latest Rivals150 ranking released Wednesday, and now is ready to prove worthy as he prepares to hit Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League with Elfrid Payton Elite.
A 6-foot-4 junior at New Orleans (La.) McDonogh 35, Jarreau just jumped from No. 113 to No. 74 in the most recent Rivals150. Because of his size, ability to get into the lane and create, along with his overall athleticism, he may not be done moving up. This weekend, he hits the EYBL in Hampton, Va., where he knows the pressure is on to perform in front of the college coaches.

"It's a big thing," Jarreau told Rivals.com. "I have to get ready for it. I can't come out weak and get messed over."
It isn't as if Jarreau is a stranger to college coaches. He already reports offers from Louisiana Lafayette, Boston College, Oklahoma, Tulsa, Memphis, Washington, Louisiana Tech UMass and Oral Roberts.
According to Jarreau, coaches like his size. But he knows it's important to round out his game because it is likely he plays both the point and shooting guard position in college.
"People are recruiting me as a one," Jarreau said. "I know I won't be able to play the one all the time so I'm working the catch-and-shoot and one-dribble pull-up to play the two.
"I can get to the goal. I can blow by somebody."
With his stock on the rise and plenty of opportunity to build more momentum, Jarreau is in no hurry to make a decision. He's looking forward to seeing other programs jump into his recruitment.
"I'm going to take some time and weigh my options," Jarreau said. "I'm still wide open right now so I'm trying to see who else I can get or I can just work with what I have."
