James Peters Has Short List Of Schools

One of the better returning sophomores in the Jayhawk Conference already has a host of high major programs courting him entering the July evaluation period.
James Peters, a long and athletic 6-8, 215 pound power forward from Butler County C.C. in El Dorado, Kan., is being eyeballed early by UNLV, DePaul, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Arkansas, according to Grizzlies Asst. Coach Eric Matthews.

"I doubt he signs early," Matthews said. "He's got some work to do in the classroom, and right now, he's back at home. He did not want to get ahead in terms of summer school, and that could hurt him in the long run trying to get where he needs to be."
Peters, a native of Chicago, Ill., averaged 14 points and six rebounds in 2000-2001. He earned second team all-conference honors in the process.
While Butler County will be at Jerry Mullen's JUCO Showcase in Tulsa, Okla., from July 27-29, Peters is not expected to attend, Matthews said.
Peters is blessed with excellent mobility and pogo stick leaping ability that makes him a force on the offensive glass. While he will need to continue filling out his frame, expect Peters to be a big commodity next spring among the high major set.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com will keep you posted on Peters along every step of the way.
