Lewis Lampley, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound point guard from Admiral Farragut High School in St. Petersburg, Fla., will play at James Madison University. The class of 2005 product picked the Colonial Conference school this morning, according to his AAU coach David Jones.
Lampley, a well-defined physical guard who played with the Jacksonville Lee Bulls this summer, picked the Dukes over Appalachian State, Tulane and Jacksonville State. Western Kentucky, UMass and Mercer all showed interest as well.

“He was very impressed on is visit (to James Madison) and the coaches were just relentless. They showed that they really wanted him,” Jones said. “The new staff they have there brought in their own point guard who can help build them up and help build people around him.”
The guard is no stranger to winning. He helped his high school team claim a 2A state championship. Lampley, a good student athlete, will help Dukes head coach Dean Keener improve on a 7-21 season next season.
“He’s a big point guard that’s very strong and can really rebound the ball,” Jones said. “Lewis is going to help run the team and play hard over the course of the next four years. He’s still developing his shot but I’m happy with his decision and I think he’ll do well there.”
