James Madison adds forward transfer

James Madison added a key transfer to its roster. Dazzmond Thornton, a 6-foot-7, 230 pound power forward from Denver (Col.) East High School, will transfer to the CAA school from Texas Tech.
Thornton was a high school teammate of Pierre Curtis, a JMU signee in the 2006 recruiting class. Together, they helped lead their team to a state championship in 2004 playing for the legendary coach Rudy Carey.

JMU head coach Dean Keener believes Thornton will help the team right away.
"We are very excited to have Dazzmond Thornton join our program at JMU," Keener said. "He's a quality person, as well as being a high level player, and will make an immediate impact here at JMU."
Thornton played in 10 games as a freshman at Texas Tech. James Madison signed Allen, Jequan Bray, Terrence Carter, Matt Parker and Ben Thomas in the 2006 class. Thornton will be eligible to play in the 2007 season.
