James commits to OU

The word has been out that Damion James, the No. 5 ranked player in the class of 2006, might be close to committing to the Oklahoma Sooners, and that is just what the 6-foot-8, 225-pound small forward from Nacogdoches (Texas) High School did when the Sooners head coach Kelvin Sampson visited with the five-star prospect on Wednesday night.
"I just committed to Coach Sampson and Oklahoma," James told Rivals.com. "I'm really excited. It feels like it's going to be a great fit."

James, a do everything type forward with NBA potential, also named Texas as the other school he was considering. His strong relationship with Coach Sampson, however, moved him to go ahead and commit to the Sooners.
"I like their program, and they have a great coach," he said. "Coach Sampson and I have a father-son type relationship. He is just a great guy."
James, who has his eye on achieving an even higher ranking, will suit up for the Houston Hoops this weekend at the Boo Williams Invitational.
