COLUMBIA – Jairus Hamilton remains in no rush to make a college decision as he now sits within the very best category still available from his graduating 2018 class. A member of the Rivals150, Hamilton showed tremendous progressions in Columbia this week displaying a much-improved perimeter game, all while focused on a group of three college programs.

Once knocked for his shaky jump shooting skills, Hamilton recapped the improvements within his skillset. “I can always get better but I think that I was pretty dominant out there showing all that I can do,” he said before discussing where things stand within his recruitment. “It is just a really hard process to go through so I have just been trying to take my time and just focus on what I really want to do and just let God pick out the path that I should go with.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Boston College: "The Carolina kids are showing out over there. Jerome Robinson and Ky Bowman, two guys that I look up to and are really good players. They have a pretty good team and got a big win over Duke and have a really good coach in Jim Christian."

Maryland: “They got good history over there with Coach (Mark) Turgeon. They have a good team and a good class coming in, so that is definitely something to look into with coming in and making a push for a championship."

Mississippi State: “They have Lamar (Peters) over there who has a good chance of going to the league but I just like Coach (Ben) Howland and his history of getting guys to the league at UCLA and with how he has been winning wherever he has been.”

Villanova: “They just won the championship two years ago and they have good wings like Mikal Bridges who is playing well over there and it is just another good opportunity.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Hamilton is in no rush to make a college decision as he remains focused on his senior year of play. “I just want to make the right decision and let it play out and see where other kids go so I can go to a good school and I could be dominant on a team that I can compete on,” he said.

He may be done taking official visits as he has already seen the campuses at Mississippi State, Maryland and Boston College, though a Big East foe remains in the mix. “I don’t have any visits lined up right now but maybe Villanova but I don’t really know yet right now,” the Rivals150 product stated.

RIVALS' REACTION

A talented, versatile and much improved prospect that can play either the three or the four in the half-court offense, Hamilton is the type of mismatch in the frontcourt that falls in line with recently successful high-major forwards f late.

Villanova could make a late push with Hamilton but at the current moment, Hamilton seems content on focusing on a group consisting of Mississippi State, Boston College and Maryland. BC head coach Jim Christian was present for his contest on Thursday as the Eagles remain heavily in the mix, though the Bulldogs and Terps are just as involved.
