COLUMBIA, S.C. – The recruitment of 2020 forward Jaemyn Brakefield is already trending toward a blueblood affair.

A 6-foot-8 lefty forward that can play either the small forward position in bigger lineups but also the power forward spot in smaller groups, Brakefield discussed his strengths as a ballplayer.

“Everything; I can pass, shoot, rebound and get to the basket. I am just trying to lead my team,” he said before recapping where things stand with his recruitment. “It is starting to jump off right now but it is still early. UCLA has been hitting me up but personally, I have been following Kentucky; they have been hitting me up.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

South Carolina: “I don’t know them a whole lot yet but I am looking forward to getting to know them.”

Kentucky: “I have taken three visits there. It is just amazing like everybody says it is with how they play and how coach (John) Calipari coaches.”

Ole Miss: “I have visited Ole Miss so far. They are just really interested in me at this point in time.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

There isn’t much movement with Brakefield's recruitment as he remains in the scholarship gathering stage. No other visits are expected for the foreseeable future.

RIVALS' REACTION

A mightily impressive college prospect, Brakefield solidly sits within the Rivals50 2020 Class Rankings thanks to his versatile set of skills.

While they have yet to offer, if they were, Kentucky could become the heavy favorite for Brakefield. Having already visited the SEC program three times within the past calendar year, the Wildcats remain high on Brakefield’s list as a number of other potential suitors are due to emerge in the coming months.
