There aren't many legitimate options left for high major programs in the class of 2017, 6-foot-11 Jacob Epperson is one of them.

A native of Australia who plays at La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere, Epperson is a skinny center with athleticism, skill and long term upside. Among those in the hunt are Creighton, Toledo (where his father starred), Illinois, Purdue and Utah.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Epperson discussed the high major programs that are in pursuit.

Creighton: “I like what they have done so far with Justin Patton, he is somewhat like me. They redshirted him for one year and now he is looking at the Draft.”

Illinois: “I haven’t really watched them too much but I like how they get up and down the floor, it’s sort of my style of game.”

Utah: “I like the way they use their bigs and try to get the ball inside.”

Purdue: “The way they get the ball inside.” (On his visit) “It was great. It was the second school I have been to. They’re facilities are great.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Epperson has visited just two schools since coming across the ocean in the fall as he has unofficially been to Illinois and Purdue. Things are still far from a college decision, something that he spoke further on. “I don’t know yet but somewhat at the end of the signing period; sometime around then,” said Epperson about when he will decide.

RIVALS' REACTION

While strength gain is in order for Jacob Epperson, his passing skills, motor, and touch from 15-feet and in have made the Australian import a fine late target for the high-major rung. We value his ability to get up and down the floor and could see the La Lumiere product becoming a solid high-post frontcourt weapon in the years ahead as it seems as if the likes of Creighton and Illinois are right up there with him.
