Jackson Vroman Profile

Jackson Vroman, a 6-11, 225 pound forward from Snow J.C. in Ephraim, Ut., is a versatile player who should help Iowa State stay among the upper echelon in the Big 12 Conference.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com had the opportunity to evaluate Vroman last March at the Region 18 Tournament in St. George, Ut.

Vroman played last season at about 6-10 and 200 pounds. He displayed excellent mobility, good athleticism and perimeter skills (sans three point shooting acumen) for a big man. On the downside, Vroman could be pushed around physically, but he has made strides this summer to change that.
According to Snow Asst. Coach Curtis Condie, Vroman has put on around 25 pounds in the last few months and even grown an inch. That should help him be a more effective player and finisher in the low blocks, but there's no denying Vroman's overall skill level.
"He's a very hard-nosed athletic player who runs the floor really well," Condie said. "He's a fierce competitor. For a 6-11 kid, he has great ball handling skills and a really quick first step."
Iowa State beat out Utah State for Vroman's services, but Utah, Washington State, Wyoming, Xavier and New Orleans were also involved with the Snow big man this summer.
"He's very excited about Iowa State," Condie said. "They did a great job of recruiting him. Coach Eustachy, Coach Sundvold and Coach Chapman were heavily involved."
As a freshman, Vroman averaged 10.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in only 13.1 minutes per game. He started 18 of 32 games for the Badgers, who are coached by Jon Judkins.
Snow substitutes heavily, and had Vroman played more minutes per game, there's little doubt he would have put up bigger numbers.
Vroman's father was recruited to play at UCLA by legendary Bruins Head Coach John Wooden, but he later transferred out and finished his career at UNLV under Head Coach Jerry Tarkanian.
