Jabbar Battle Is A Scorer

Jabbar Battle, a burly 6-6, 250 pound power/combination forward from Olney Central C.C. in Olney, Ill., enjoyed a productive freshman campaign in 2000-2001 for Jim Glash's Blue Knights program.
Although he is a bit unorthodox in his approach, Battle (pictured right) simply knows how to score in a variety of ways. He's not particularly quick, nor is he athletic, but he has good hands and great timing on his moves in the low post.

In addition to being able to maneuver adroitly in the low post, Battle also showed that he has legitimate range out to 15-17 feet on his jumper. Perhaps the biggest question mark surrounding Battle is his ability to defend quicker more athletic opponents.
Glash said that Indiana State has emerged as the early leader for Battle. Akron, Illinois-Chicago and Bowling Green are also in the mix with Battle this fall.
Battle averaged 10 points and five rebounds per game as a freshman for Olney. Glash said that Battle should graduate in the spring and will also sign during the NCAA's spring period.
Battle hails from Chicago, Ill.
