J.R. Smith Has 4 On List

Over the past month, swingman J.R. Smith, considered a legitimate McDonald's All American candidate from St. Benedict's High School in New Jersey, has stated he wants to play for Roy Williams and the North Carolina program.
So on the last day of evaluation, Smith decided to meet up with some friends at yesterday's Eastern Invitational All Star game held at the College of New Jersey. The logical question is does Smith feel the same way about North Carolina now as he did at the start of the July evaluation period?

"Yes," Smith said. "Coach Williams has my transcript but I haven't heard yet on whether they are going to offer me. Right now, there is no offer."
Smith had told several reporters that if the Tar Heels offered, he would end his recruiting race and sign with UNC in November. But the offer hasn't yet been extended Smith's way. "North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh and Connecticut are my schools right now," Smith said. "But I am still open. I could still add schools."
So it's basically up to Williams and his staff to review Smith's transcript and then make a decision on whether they offer. Smith is waiting. And if the offer is extended, the recruiting race will likely be over.
However, if an offer isn't extended, which school would then have the best chance to land Smith if he had to decide today? "Pittsburgh," Smith said. "I really like their coaching staff. I can go in right away and play. They have a chance to win too."
