Ivory: Committed, but Looking

Power forward Anthony Ivory from Marriott Hospitality Public Charter High School in Washington, D.C. insists that he is still committed to Providence despite the fact that he has opened up his recruitment and is looking at other schools.
“Yes, I committed to Providence,” said the 6-foot-10, 290-pound Ivory. “Well, I am looking at other schools, but Providence is my number one school. Providence is the only school I’ve visited , but I want to see what else is out there.”

Ivory listed Georgetown, Florida State, Clemson, Marshall, East Carolina, and Houston as the other schools he is looking out. Clemson is the one school that presently has a scholarship offer on the table.
“They have all been around,” he said concerning these schools. “But when I got injured, they disappeared. Providence, Houston, and Clemson were the only schools that stayed in contact. I went on an unofficial to Providence and verballed two weeks later because I saw it as the best fit.”
Ivory suffered stress fractures in both his shins during his junior season.
Ivory is scheduled to visit Providence on Oct. 17 and feels that Providence is still committed to him even though he is looking at other schools.
“They read one of the articles,” he said. “And I talked to [assistant] Coach Seymore. He talked to me about doing a year of prep school to get healthier. I am healthy, but I need to get in better shape. Providence is still committed to me, and I am committed to them.”
